How you reach them
The wrong channel, too few actions to know anything, and a process nobody measures.
The wrong channel, too few actions to know anything, and a process nobody measures.
Email, LinkedIn, events, referrals, direct mail, partnerships, content, introductions. Studios do not know which of these fits the person they are trying to reach, or how they work together.
So it becomes random actions. One month LinkedIn, then cold emails, then an event, then Instagram, then nothing for two months, then a website redesign, then a new showreel, then posting again, then stopping again.
Message 20 people, nobody replies, and now outreach does not work. Send 30 emails, nothing happens, and now email does not work. Go to one event, no project, and now events do not work.
The number of actions is so small that there is no data, only feelings. One reply feels like the strategy works. Ten ignored messages feel like the whole strategy is broken. They never tested a system. They tested a few random actions.
How many contacts, conversations, replies, meetings, inquiries, proposals, projects, repeat projects. How much revenue came from existing clients and how much from new ones. How long from first conversation to first project. How many people to create one meeting.
Without those numbers you cannot tell where the problem is. Maybe nobody replies. Maybe you get replies but no meetings. Maybe meetings but no inquiries. Maybe inquiries but you lose on price. Maybe you win projects but never get repeat work. Those are completely different problems, and without measurement all of them feel like "we need more clients".
That is one group of six, and they compound. Fixing where the work comes from only matters if the next set is working too.
What happens in the conversation
Relationships that never develop, and meetings with no brief where the studio stays a vendor.
