€250K in revenue, and still sweating every month
A strong portfolio, a skilled team, real revenue, and no way to say where the next project comes from.

This French studio is what most artists are working toward. €250K in yearly revenue, a portfolio that wins respect, and a team that delivers. They did not come to me broken.
They came for something more specific. In the founder’s own words, they needed an outsider’s view on the state of the studio. When you are inside the machine every day you cannot see which parts carry it and which parts drag it.
Every quarter started close to zero. The projects came in, but nothing about the next one was predictable. No pipeline you could read, and no way to know in March what September looks like.
That is why the founder of a visibly successful studio still sweats every month. The business made money. It had not yet learned to make the money repeat.
This is the studio nobody writes case studies about, because from the outside it looks fine. It is also, in my experience, the most common shape of a studio at this size.
One studio’s story tells you this works for somebody else. It cannot tell you whether it works for yours, because it does not know your market or your last twelve months.
It felt like driving through dense fog
Vid Benišek’s craft was never in question and his days were full. What was missing was harder to name.
